Green Bay Packers training camp is heating up, and receiver Skyy Moore has been sitting on the roster bubble for weeks. That status might be changing fast. According to ClutchPoints, Moore was previously considered a cut candidate heading into camp.

Gutekunst didn’t hand down an outright roster guarantee. But the tone left little doubt. He’s not just penciling Moore in as a return man. He’s talking about him catching passes, too.
Why the Sixth Receiver Spot Matters
Green Bay hasn’t kept six wide receivers on its 53-man roster since 2007, according to CBS Sports. That history makes Gutekunst’s comments notable. Packers beat writer Ryan Wood weighed in with his own read on the numbers: “If Brian Gutekunst is already anticipating Skyy Moore making the 53, sounds like #Packers are slotting 6 receivers onto their opening roster: Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, Savion Williams, Bo Melton and Moore.”
That reporting lines up with what other outlets are seeing on the practice field. SI.com’s latest 53-man roster projection, published after the first week of padded practices, already has Moore penciled in alongside that same group of six.
Jordan Love isn’t likely to lean on Moore as a primary target. Watson, Reed and Golden are locked in as the top three, according to AtoZ Sports. Moore’s real value shows up on special teams, where field position swings games.

A Return Specialist With Something to Prove on Offense
Moore signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal with Green Bay in March, per AtoZ Sports. He spent 2025 with the San Francisco 49ers, catching five passes for 87 yards while handling most of his workload on returns. Before that, injuries limited him during his final season with Kansas City, where he was a 2022 second-round pick.
Head coach Matt LaFleur has talked up Moore’s ceiling beyond the return game, according to ClutchPoints. Whether that translates into real offensive snaps is still an open question. Moore hasn’t topped 100 receiving yards in a season since his rookie year at Western Michigan in 2021.
Still, the return numbers speak for themselves. Green Bay’s return game struggled last season after years of relying on Keisean Nixon, and Gutekunst went out and got a proven fix. If camp holds, Moore looks like a lock — not as a downfield weapon, but as the guy Green Bay is counting on to flip field position.
