Dolphins Kick Off 2026 Training Camp With Back Together Weekend Practice

The Miami Dolphins opened their gates to the public Sunday, kicking off the first practice of 2026 training camp as part of the NFL’s “Back Together Weekend.” Fans packed the stands at the Baptist Health Training Complex in Miami Gardens for a first look at a roster under major reconstruction.
The team confirmed the moment on X, posting a short video of the crowd settling in under the shaded canopy with the caption “Let’s go Dolphins!” alongside the hashtag #BackTogetherWeekend. The post had drawn 146 likes and 21 reposts within the hour.

Sunday’s session was the first of eight public practices on the 2026 slate. According to the Miami Dolphins’ official announcement, admission and parking are free for every open practice this summer, with most sessions starting at 9:30 a.m. The schedule also includes a special practice inside Hard Rock Stadium on Aug. 8, a joint practice against the New York Giants on Aug. 20, and a separate session reserved for season ticket members.
A New-Look Dolphins Take the Field
This camp carries more weight than a typical opener. Miami is entering its first season under general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley, both of whom arrived after time with the Green Bay Packers. Per Local 10, fans got their first extended look this summer at the roster the new front office has built from the ground up.
Quarterback Malik Willis heads into camp as the presumptive starter. He signed a three-year, $67.5 million deal with Miami in March after serving as Jordan Love’s backup in Green Bay, according to Local 10’s report on the camp schedule.
The scheme is changing too. The Phinsider reports the Dolphins are moving away from the speed-and-motion identity of the Mike McDaniel era toward a power-based rushing attack designed to open space in the passing game under Hafley.
Fans will also be watching the receiver room closely. ESPN’s training camp preview notes Miami added Malik Tolbert, Tutu Atwell, Jalen Reagor and Terrace Marshall Jr. this offseason and drafted three more receivers, but no clear WR1 emerged this spring — Atwell and returning veteran Malik Washington reportedly had the strongest showings.
| Training Camp Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Back Together Weekend (first public practice) | Sunday, Aug. 2 |
| Stadium Practice (Hard Rock Stadium) | Saturday, Aug. 8 |
| Joint Practice vs. New York Giants | Thursday, Aug. 20 |
The Dolphins are also leaning into the community side of camp. This year’s sessions include daily giveaways for the first 1,000 fans, local food trucks and a garage sale benefiting the Miami Dolphins Foundation, per the team’s official training camp page.
Camp runs through Aug. 26. For a franchise trying to build something new under Hafley and Sullivan, Sunday’s crowd — and the noise coming off the bleachers under that shaded canopy — was the first real signal of how much appetite fans still have for this team.
