Madden NFL 27 Mobile Launches: What Carries Over From Last Season
Madden NFL 27 Mobile is officially live. EA Tiburon’s mobile Ultimate Team game kicked off on August 6, 2026, kicking off the 12th year of the Madden Mobile series and giving players a fresh roster grind to attack ahead of the 2026 NFL season.
The mobile release lands a week ahead of the console and PC version. Madden NFL 27 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and Windows officially arrives August 13, with early access starting August 10 for Deluxe Edition and MVP Bundle buyers. Madden Mobile runs as its own separate product on iOS and Android, and this week’s launch is app-only — it has nothing to do with Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, this year’s console cover athlete.
How Madden 27 Mobile Works
For anyone new to the app, Madden Mobile is essentially Ultimate Team on your phone. Players start with a roster of current and former NFL names, each carrying an overall rating, and build the team up by grinding challenges, completing events, and cracking open packs. Microtransactions are baked in from the jump — packs and boxes are purchasable with real money if players don’t want to grind for them.
EA is leaning on daily events and season-long programs to keep people opening the app throughout the NFL calendar. The more active a player is during the season, the faster their roster improves.
What Rolls Over From Madden 26 Mobile
EA published a full breakdown of the season transition through its official Gridiron Notes. Every player card from Madden Mobile 26 carries over into MM27, but their overall ratings drop significantly to fit the new season’s progression curve. Boost Effects on those rollover players are wiped, and none of them are eligible for a Player Evolution in the new cycle.
Legacy Trades also return, letting players convert MM26 rollover cards into MM27 players or other resources. Madden Cash — the game’s premium currency — carries over in full.
| Item | Carries Over? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Player cards | Yes | OVR significantly reduced |
| Madden Cash | Yes | Full balance carries over |
| Coins, Tokens, Trophies, Keys | No | Reset to zero |
| Custom playbooks | No | Reset to default |
What Resets — and What You Get Back
Everything else resets with the new season. Coins, Team Training Points, League Tokens, Play Tokens, Evo Tokens, Trophies, Keys, and VS Drinks all go back to zero, and user levels, playbook budgets, and Stamina reset as well. Custom playbooks revert to default, meaning players have to rebuild them from scratch in MM27.
EA is compensating for some of that loss. Purchased plays from MM26 convert into Play Tokens, usable immediately at launch. Traits purchased last season convert into Gold and Silver Keys, with higher-tier traits worth more in the exchange — those keys can be spent unlocking new traits in MM27.
To manage the transition, Operation Sports reported that Madden NFL 26 Mobile’s servers went offline for scheduled maintenance from August 4 through August 5 ahead of the switch.
A Separate Arcade Version, Too
Mobile players should note there’s a third option beyond the App Store/Google Play version and the console game: Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition, an Apple Arcade-exclusive release that also launched August 6. According to Apple’s newsroom announcement, the Arcade Edition is a separate, season-based simulation title built specifically for Apple Arcade subscribers, distinct from both the free-to-play Ultimate Team mobile app and the full console release.
EA Madden Mobile’s own account confirmed the timeline directly to fans: “Mark your calendars: Madden NFL 27 Mobile officially kicks off on August 6th!”

What It Means Going Forward
The lowered rollover ratings are standard for the series — Madden Mobile resets the power curve every season so returning players don’t stomp newcomers with maxed-out cards from day one. The trade-off is compensation through tokens and keys, which softens the reset without erasing the grind entirely. Players who log in early and lean on daily events will have the fastest path back to a competitive roster before the NFL season gets deep into September.
