Josh Allen Reveals the Bourbon Bottle He’s Saving for a Bills Super Bowl Win

For too long, the Buffalo Bills have carried the stigma of being an elite NFL franchise without a Super Bowl to show for it. Over three decades, it’s been a cycle of high hopes and January heartbreak.

Josh Allen is still holding onto that hope. So much so that he’s already got a plan for the celebration. The Bills quarterback revealed a unique item he’s been saving for years, telling Kyle Brandt of NFL Network’s “Kyle Brandt’s Basement” exactly what happens the day Buffalo finally wins it all.

Sitting next to his 2024 MVP trophy in his basement, Allen keeps a bottle of bourbon whiskey he refuses to open. The plan: crack it open the moment the Bills hoist the Lombardi Trophy, and pour a round for everyone in the room.

“I hope that whole bottle is gone with how many people I’m sharing it with,” Allen said. “I hope everyone gets a nice little taster and there’s quite a few people down in the basement. Hopefully I drink a lot of it by myself.”

Brandt posted the exchange on X, giving fans a look inside Allen’s basement and the trophy case that’s still missing its biggest piece.

A Long Wait for the Bottle to Open

Allen has been Buffalo’s quarterback for eight seasons now, ever since the Bills took him ninth overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. In that time, he’s turned the Bills from an afterthought into one of the AFC’s most consistent contenders. What he hasn’t done yet is get them to a Super Bowl.

The postseason résumé is strong on paper. Allen has started 15 playoff games and carries an 8-7 record, with plenty of honest reflection from Allen himself on how those runs have ended. But Buffalo keeps running into a wall in January. The Bills lost the 2021 AFC Championship Game to Kansas City in overtime, then lost the AFC title game again to the Chiefs following the 2024 season, 32-29. This past January, Buffalo’s run ended earlier, with a divisional-round loss at Denver.

That gap between Allen’s individual talent and the franchise’s Super Bowl drought has become the defining storyline of his career. He’s a former MVP with one of the best statistical playoff résumés of any quarterback who’s never reached the final game. The bourbon bottle is a small, human detail in a much bigger picture: a star player who has done almost everything except win the one game that matters most to Buffalo.

Buffalo Still Very Much in the Mix

None of that history has knocked the Bills out of the championship conversation heading into 2026. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Buffalo is priced at +1000 to win the Super Bowl, among the shorter odds in the AFC field.

The Bills enter the year under a new head coach after moving on from Sean McDermott following January’s divisional-round exit, with the roster retooled around Allen once again. Whether this is finally the season the bottle comes off the shelf remains to be seen. For now, it sits in the basement, waiting.
