Eagles’ Makai Lemon Says He’s Ready for Camp; 49ers Sign Punter Bouwmeester, Seahawks Place Rookie on PUP
Training camps are days away, and rosters around the NFL are still shifting. Philadelphia’s top rookie receiver says his hamstring is no longer an issue, San Francisco locked up a punter to a multi-year deal, and Seattle opened camp with a seventh-round pick sidelined.
Eagles WR Makai Lemon says he’s “100 percent” for training camp
Makai Lemon missed the Eagles’ mandatory minicamp last month with a hamstring injury. He says that’s no longer a concern.
“I’m feeling great,” Lemon said, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer, adding he expects to be “100 percent” when the Eagles open camp.
Lemon, Philadelphia’s first-round pick out of USC, sat out the second media-attended OTA practice and all of mandatory minicamp with what teammate Quinyon Mitchell described as a hamstring issue, per the Inquirer’s reporting. He’ll be counted on early. The Eagles traded longtime No. 1 receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots this offseason, and Lemon is part of the retooled group — alongside Dontayvion Wicks, Hollywood Brown, and returning veterans DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert — expected to fill that void under new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion.
Lemon made the comments Friday at his youth football camp in Aston, Pennsylvania, and said he’s used the downtime to study rather than sit idle. He’s set to report to Eagles camp on July 28, with the first practice open to the public on July 29.
49ers sign punter Jack Bouwmeester to three-year deal
San Francisco signed punter Jack Bouwmeester to a three-year contract, the team confirmed. Bouwmeester, an undrafted free agent out of Texas, joined the 49ers after this year’s draft and will compete for the starting punter job against Corliss Waitman, whom the team signed away from the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier in the offseason.
The Australian-born Bouwmeester played his final college season at Texas after stops at Michigan State and Utah, averaging 44.5 yards per punt for the Longhorns in 2025. He was absent from the 49ers’ offseason program for a stretch, which his agent attributed to scheduling rather than any issue with the deal.
49ers place TE Khalil Dinkins on active/non-football injury list
San Francisco also placed tight end Khalil Dinkins on the active/non-football injury list. Dinkins spent five seasons at Penn State, catching 37 passes for 399 yards and seven touchdowns across his college career, with an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten nod in 2025. The 49ers have not detailed the nature of the injury; this transaction has not been independently corroborated beyond the team’s own reporting as of publication, so treat the underlying cause as unconfirmed until further reporting emerges.
Seahawks place rookie DT Deven Eastern on PUP list
Seattle opened training camp by placing rookie nose tackle Deven Eastern on the physically unable to perform list, according to Field Gulls. Eastern, a seventh-round pick out of Minnesota (242nd overall), started for the Golden Gophers in each of the past two seasons before turning pro.
Players on the PUP list can’t practice but can still attend meetings and travel with the team. They can be activated at any point during camp once healthy.
