Denver’s players walked into a brand-new building this week, and even the guy with a Defensive Player of the Year trophy on his shelf couldn’t hide that he was impressed.
The Broncos’ training camp officially opened as veterans reported Tuesday, and the biggest story of the day wasn’t a depth chart battle. It was the building itself. Denver’s players moved into Broncos Park Powered by CommonSpirit, a new training center that opened its doors on July 13 after nearly two years of construction.
All-Pro cornerback Pat Surtain II, entering his sixth season in Denver, didn’t bother playing it cool.

He credited ownership for the investment, pointing to Greg Penner and Carrie Walton Penner directly. ESPN put a number on that investment: a $175 million, 205,000-square-foot facility, reportedly the new standard-bearer in the league. Players were still learning the hallways as they filed in for camp.

Surtain and Sutton Lead a Veteran Group Setting the Tone
Beyond the building, Denver’s message centered on urgency. Surtain, fresh off an AFC Championship Game appearance, told reporters the roster is built to finish the job.

All-Pro guard Quinn Meinerz echoed the theme, and both players pointed to the same idea: fast starts. Not just in games, but in the season itself and, now, in camp.
Wide receiver Courtland Sutton enters camp as one of two proven options at the top of Denver’s receiver room, alongside a new addition. The Broncos traded for Jaylen Waddle this offseason, and Denver’s offense leaned heavily on Sutton a season ago. ESPN notes Sutton was the only Bronco to finish in the top 60 in yards per reception last season, and the only Denver player in the top 40 in receptions of 10-plus yards — a workload the front office clearly wanted to lighten.
On defense, Surtain isn’t walking into camp alone at the top. Denver’s secondary returns second-team All-Pro safety Talanoa Hufanga, plus cornerback Riley Moss, who co-led the league with 19 passes defensed in 2025. That group helped Denver allow the seventh-fewest passing yards in the NFL last season.
