Justin Herbert Is Engaged to Singer Madison Beer

Justin Herbert has a new title to go with his NFL resume: fiancé. The Los Angeles Chargers quarterback is engaged to pop singer Madison Beer, the couple announced Tuesday, capping off a whirlwind year that started with paparazzi photos and ended with a diamond ring.

Beer broke the news herself. According to Just Jared, the singer posted a joint Instagram announcement with a simple caption: “meet my fiancé.” The post showed off her new ring and included several photos of the couple together.

TMZ reports Herbert popped the question outdoors, getting down on one knee in front of a scenic backdrop. Beer wore white. Herbert kept it simple in black pants and a white long-sleeved shirt. The two sealed it with a kiss, per the outlet.

The NFL’s own social team got in on the celebration. The league’s verified X account posted congratulations to the couple, sharing the same engagement photos credited to Beer’s Instagram.

A Relationship That Built Slowly, Then Went Public

Herbert and Beer didn’t rush into the spotlight. Their story started quietly in August 2025, when Herbert was spotted on the set of one of Beer’s music video shoots in Los Angeles. Neither confirmed anything at the time. Fans noticed. The internet speculated. Nobody said a word.

That changed in October. Cameras caught the two sharing a kiss on the sidelines at SoFi Stadium before a Chargers game against the Washington Commanders. A few weeks later, they showed up courtside together at a Lakers game — their first real public outing as a couple.

From there, the relationship played out in plain sight. They attended a Lakers-Timberwolves game together in late October, where Herbert briefly went viral for shielding Beer from a stray basketball. They made an appearance at a World Series matchup. They showed up at Chargers Halloween events. By February, they were side by side at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammys gala, Beer in a Marmar Halim gown, Herbert in a black suit.

Herbert, who has generally kept his personal life out of the public eye, started opening up more this spring. For Beer’s 27th birthday in March, he posted an Instagram Stories tribute calling her “my favorite person of all time” and writing that she had “changed my life forever.” He added that he was “the luckiest guy alive.”

In April, Herbert appeared in the music video for Beer’s song “lovergirl,” off her Locket Deluxe project — beach scenes, photobooth shots, the two of them playing cards together.

She Wanted a Ring — And Now She Has One

Beer wasn’t shy about what she was hoping for. Back in May, she appeared on the “In Your Dreams With Owen Thiele” podcast and talked candidly about engagement rings, saying she wanted the traditional route rather than something unconventional. “I know that I’m basic with certain things,” she said. “Like, I do want a ring.” She didn’t mention Herbert by name in that conversation, but the timing lines up with what came Tuesday.

Beer, 27, first built her following on YouTube after being discovered by Justin Bieber, and has since released two studio albums, with a third, Locket, out earlier this year. Herbert, also 27, was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2020 draft out of Oregon and signed a five-year, $262.5 million extension with the Chargers in 2023.

What We Don’t Know Yet

Neither Herbert nor Beer has released additional details beyond the Instagram post — no word yet on a wedding date, location, or how the proposal itself came together beyond what’s visible in the photos. Just Jared noted plainly that no additional details were revealed at this time. Anything beyond the announcement itself should be treated as unconfirmed until the couple or their representatives say more.
